Meet the Team

Mike Uchitel - We originally hired Mike to detail the motorcycles, a job at which he was highly mediocre. Two weeks later we caught him meeting with our BMW corporate rep and issuing orders to the rest of the staff. Since he appeared to be slightly more competent being in charge than he did washing bikes, we felt it best to just leave it alone.

Apparently 25 plus years of riding BMWs does leave you qualified for something, much as Mike's mother might disagree. Mike is first and foremost a rider. There will never be a product or service offered at BMW Motorcycles of Utah that Mike hasn't or wouldn't be pleased to ride with himself. Period. Mike has been around the BMW Motorrad corporate scene since '04 and is well versed in getting the customer what they want.

He is passionate, enthusiastic, experienced and his primary concern is making sure you are on the right bike and loving the experience all the way through. It is Mike's personal responsibility to make sure your experience in the dealership is second to none. He wants and needs to hear about it if it was otherwise. Mike can always be reached on his cell at 801-502-7174 or via e-mail at mike@bmwmotorcyclesofutah.com.

Come in even just to chat--Mike digs that--or take a demo ride on something you've always wanted to try. He very much looks forward to seeing you.

Andy Grover - Andy comes to us with years of experience as a rider, technician, service writer and ultimately, service manager.  Andy is the type of rider who deeply cares about your motorcycle.  This profound concern leads Andy to stay on the cutting edge of all training, all technical bulletins, all service innovations and all maintanance proceedures.

He is always current on the latest recalls and he is fully fluent in the BMW warranty process.  He has all this going for him as well as a commitment to customer service that is unsurpassed.  Andy is also fully abreast of the latest accessories for your ride and has a staff of technicians with the skill to install anything anywhere!

He also usually has some nifty service specials brewing, especially as we get into the colder weather, so give him a call anytime--he'd love nothing more than to talk about your ride.

Ryan Stanley is our Parts Manager.  Ryan started with our Utah Motorrad team a few months after we opened in 2009 and can be credited with helping us grow.  He came to us from 15 years of purgatory in the car world and after “consulting” for us to get our new parts department organized, he jumped at the twice-the-work half-the-pay proposition to be in the bike world full time.

Ryan is a serious rider, owning a Triumph Speed Triple and 675-R.  He is BMW Certified in Part and Apparel.  Ryan not only knows the BMW line of parts but is also well versed in the many accessories for your BMW and Triumph.  If you ask Ryan what the best part of his job is, he will give you one of his great smiles and tell you it’s the people he deals with daily.  If you ask Ryan standard parts questions he can give you correct answers but where he is most valuable to you is when you need to know if such and such will work on your bike, what accessory you need to accomplish a given task, or what riding gear is the best choice for given riding conditions.  For example, Ryan owns 9 helmets and 16 riding jackets so he can speak with knowledge of what is comfortable and what works.

Like other members of our team at the dealership, Ryan is very old-school in his ethics of taking care of the customer, being helpful, and making sure he knows his the products.  Even if you don’t need parts, accessories or riding gear, stop by and say hi to Ryan; he really loves to help people out.

Jamie Johnston handles the business operations and is the smiling lady you deal with when signing all the papers for your new motorcycle.  Because she has many years of experience in finance, Jamie is a great resource for finding you the best source and rates when financing your motorcycle purchase.  She can also help you with insurance questions, lead you through the purchase process, and handle any follow-up details needed to quickly get you on your new ride.  Jamie always greets you with a smile and will go out of her way to be helpful.  She is simply a wonderful person to work with and will make your purchase procedure a pleasant experience.  And Jamie understands your passion for motorcycles; she too loves to ride.

Zarin Barnard  one of our two senior technicians and the shop foreman of the dealership.  Known by a lot of riders as Z, Zarin has been diagnosing, fixing and maintaining BMW’s for over 15 years and of course is Master Certified by BMW.  He keeps completely current by attending all of the schools provided by BMW, assuring you that not only is he capable of diagnosing any type of issues on both older and new motorcycles, but is well versed on all the latest BMW models from the S1000RR to the K1600GT.  With BMW’s emphasis of incorporating the latest electronic technology in their motorcycles, attending all of the BMW training schools and having the latest BMW computer programs to diagnose the condition of your motorcycles is essential.  Z has all the skills and tools needed to meet these high standards.  Being an accomplished rider, he understands the customers need to have a well tuned motorcycle.  He also is very safety conscious and, like our other technicians, will take the extra time to check all the safety related items on your motorcycle before it leaves the shop.  Z clearly takes pride in his work and the result is that when your motorcycle is delivered back to you, you know the work was done right.

Gordy Tremelling is one of our senior technicians.  Gordy has been turning wrenches and diagnosing issues on BMW motorcycles for more years than most people have been riding.  With over 15 years experience on BMW motorcycles and twice that long in another life turning wrenches on other vehicles at his own shop, Gordy is BMW Master Certified and this Master Certification is kept current by attending yearly BMW schools.  This continual training assures you that not only is Gordy well-versed to work on your classic 1975 R90S but also your 2012 K1600GTL.  He is just as comfortable doing basic maintenance on your BMW as when he has to replace wheel bearings or a clutch assembly.  Because of his vast experience he is able to quickly diagnose problems correctly the first time and knows all the tricks to make your BMW run as good as possible.  Having worked on motorcycles for so many years, Gordy can truly be said to be of the old school:  do it right the first time and don't take short-cuts.  This old fashioned pride of workmanship assures you of the best quality work possible.

Steve Davison works in our service shop and is a BMW Certified Technician in all of the fields, including engine and drive-train, suspension, electrical, etc.  He has finished his course work and testing for his BMW Master Certification which he should have by early 2012.  With 6 years of experience, Steve started with our Utah Motorrad dealership in 2010, and has been a key part of the team that made the dealership grow in satisfied customers along with the large increase in daily service work.  Fortunately for the customers, Steve is not only excellent in his knowledge of BMW’s, he is right at home working on your Triumph or most any other motorcycle you may bring in.  His riding passion is off-road and he can be found on a “real” dirt bike in his spare time.  He has been riding freestyle motocross for about 6 years and has a number of 1st and 2nd place trophies from desert racing, motocross, supermoto and other off-road competitions.

Renn "Rennsport" Charlesworth is well known in the BMW riding community and has a sterling reputation earned over many years.  Renn has been helping people make the right choice of new or pre-owned motorcycles for a good portion of his life.

If it has two wheels, Renn has probably ridden it sometime, and you can be sure he has ridden every model on the sales floor and can speak from experience of what motorcycle is right for you and the kind of riding you want to do.  Renn is an accomplished rider both on and off pavement, spends most of his free time adding miles to his already impressive skills, and will always take the time to share his knowledge with fellow riders.  His knowledge of motorcycles and his laid-back easy-going approach make Renn a valuable part of our sales team.

The majority of Renn’s customers are from repeat sales, which clearly says he can be trusted to take good care of you.  Renn attends all the BMW schools relating to motorcycle sales is a great source of what BMW has planned for future models, how a particular BMW compares to another brand, what you ought to add to your new ride to make it comfortable for you and perform as you need it to, and the best roads or trails ride to get the most from your new purchase.  Renn also gives a lot back to the riding community as he helps teach off-road skills to riders on weekends and volunteers to be the GS Ride Master at the annual Beehive Beemers BMW Motorcycle Club rally.

Troy Barnes is part of our Utah Motorrad sales team.  Troy was recruited for the sales position to focus on dirt-oriented bikes but has proven himself equally skilled in helping customers with all types of motorcycles from the touring K1600GT to the super-fast S1000RR and the do-it-all R1200GS.  Troy is an accomplished dirt rider and feels just as comfortable on single-track trails riding a G450X or steering a fully-loaded R1200GS Adventure through mountain streams.

Like our other sales staff, Troy stays current on BMW models and technology by taking all of the BMW sales-related training classes.  We demand the highest quality standards in taking care of our customers and Troy constantly exceeds what we expect.

Because he truly loves riding, he stays well-versed on not only BMW but all lines of bikes in the motorsports world, and is a great resource of what purchase will best suit your needs and expectations.  Troy can also help you with non-BMW models so if you are looking at trading in your cruiser or your sport-bike, Troy can quickly tell you its value.  He can also help you with the purchase of a pre-owned motorcycle and make accurate recommendations of what types and models of bikes would be best for your intended riding style and purpose.

Alex Stanley is the Assistant Service Manager.  When you come in for service, there is a good chance Alex, also called Al, will take care of you.  Alex has been with the dealership since early 2010, starting in the Parts Dept and then moving over to Service.  He will be able to help you with any of your service needs ranging from normal maintenance to warranty issues and from accident damage estimates to unique service needs.  When not at the dealership, Alex remains active in sports with his biggest passions being golf and basketball.  He has completed all the course work and testing for BMW Certification as Service Advisor.  And though Alex has a great love for motorcycles, what he likes best about his position at our dealership is the interaction with customers.  If you have a service question or just need to schedule for new tires, see Alex.

Keith Wicker manages our motorcycle rentals.  He has been working in BMW dealerships since 1996 starting with Motorrad dealer in Iowa.  Though he has worked as a Parts Manage and a Sales Manager at other dealerships, Keith now heads up our very unique rental business.  There are very few places in the country where you can rent a BMW and Keith can get you on most any BMW from a touring R1200RT to a go-anywhere R1200GSA.  You will find Keith is well organized, easy to work with, and knows all the ins and outs needed to customize your motorcycle rental plans and get you on the road.  Plus, Keith is a great resource of destinations to visit and roads to ride on your rental bike.

Linda Wood is our Operations Manager, which is like an accountant, controller, financial officer and chief of operations rolled into one.  Linda started in the automotive industry back in 1998, helping get Utah’s first Land Rover dealerships off the ground.  She is a hands-on manager and knows precisely what to do to get things done.  You will not see much of Linda as her work is all behind the scenes, but if you are fortunate enough to meet her you will be dazzled by her smile and impressed by how professional she is.  The pride she takes in her work is reflected in how smooth the daily operations are at our dealership, and clearly what she does is essential.  Though Linda probably knows how good she is, her modesty is one of her great traits, and she is quick to point out that her focus is really on customer service and retention because without our customers our dealership is nothing.  Oh, did we mention that she has the best collection of jackets this side of the Mississippi and rides a new F650GS.
